Bali "Kratom Pies" Resin Extract

Kratom Pies, Mitragyna speciosa are a new Kratom Resin Extract made from fresh Bali Kratom leaves.  Kratom Pies entered the Kratom Market in September 2006.

This new Kratom Resin Extract is a step above the older varieties of Kratom Resin available in 2005.  The extraction process and quality control standards have said to be greatly increased.

Approximately 7-8 kilos of raw Bali Kratom Leaf (Mitragyna speciosa) are required to produce a single kilo of Kratom Pies. Kratom Pies are approximately half as strong as the 15 x Kratom Standardized Extract

What are the advantages of a Kratom Resin Extract?
There are a few simple advantages of a Kratom Resin Extract, but primarily.

• Kratom Resin Extracts are easy to work with.  Imagine working with an expensive Kratom Extract Powder. Then imagine all of a sudden someone opens the front door and your expensive Kratom Powdered Extract blows all over the carpet.  Now imagine how you feel after loosing $100 in Kratom Powder on the floor, and you will quickly see one of the advantages of working with a Kratom Resin.
  
• The resin extract used in Kratom Pies is rather soft and malable. This means one can cut off little bits of the resin extract with a strong butter knife, and roll the bits into pill sized Kratom balls for easy use.

So what's with the name?  Why Kratom Pies?
Well its quite simple actually, they look like mini pies.   I guess the Kratom growers could have called them Kratom resin hockey pucks but that just doesn't have the same ring to it on the ears that "Kratom Pies" does.

Why produce a Kratom shaped like pies?
Now that's a good question and one which deserves further explanation.

The primary reason is for ease of distribution.  The previous generations of Kratom Resin Extract were shipped from the wholesalers in 1-10 kilo Kratom bricks.  These Kratom bricks were then broken up into little Kratom chips by the Kratom Vendors, then weighed up to match your order.  This chipping process was not only time consuming, but also less than ideal from a sanitary standpoint.   Chips would fly everywhere, and who knows if the ones that hit the ground went back into stock or not?

With these Kratom Pies being shipped in already pre-weighed Kratom pies, and pre-sealed by the Kratom manufacturer both of these problems in the distribution of Kratom Resin Extracts have been overcome. 

What is the weight of a "Kratom Pie"?
The Kratom Pies average 36-41 grams per Kratom Pie.   The Kratom producers sell these pies based on a per unit price, not on a per gram price.  The price calculation is based on the low side of 36grams.  So if you get a 41 gram-mer, consider that extra 5 grams of Kratom extract a freebie.  Many Kratom vendors are offering price breaks on buying more than one Kratom Pie.

Is there anything I should know when purchasing Kratom Pies?
The first thing you should know is that Kratom Pies do not always arrive looking like nicely formed little Kratom Pies.  The producers designed the Kratom Pies with a fairly low melting point.   So if your shipment arrives during the summer, or gets warm in transit it will often loose its shape.  This is not anything to worry about, after all we are here to enjoy Kratom's effects, not to look at it on a shelf right?  But for shipments transiting through cold weather the Kratom Pie you receive will probably still look like a mini pie.

Why use a low melting point for Kratom Pie, resin extracts?
There are two primary reasons for a low melting point being useful in developing Kratom Resin Extracts.

• Kratom Resin Extract with a low melting point are said to be quicker absorbed into the body upon use.
  
• Kratom Resin with a low melting point are also softer and more malabe.  This means you can easily cut little chunks off your Kratom Pie and roll it in between your fingers to create little mitragyna speciosa Kratom Balls.  

A higher melting point would result in a much harder Kratom Extract, one that could not be cut with a knife, instead this harder Kratom Resin Extract would require breaking with a hammer like the previous versions of Kratom Extract.  These harder resin extract chips would often contain sharp shards that were difficult to work down with ones fingers, and if ignored could become stuck upon use.
